Current Events Project
Throughout this year we will be discussing many topics that cross over to more than one subject area. Now as we move through the history of different territories it is important for you to research how nations interact with the world today. In this project, you will have to find, read, and respond to THREE Current Event articles covering Climate Change and the African Continent. These THREE articles can either be one or two different territories (countries) and then one article on climate change or the opposite. All of your articles must be from focused on Climate Change and the continent of Africa.
The Current Events-
Your articles may come from any of the following sources: newspapers, magazines, online newspapers/ magazines, online news station articles (ex: www.abcnews.com) You must pick THREE DIFFERENT articles! Each article must be about a different event and focus on a different country/ territory in Africa and Climate Change. The articles must be recent, meaning, written within the last six months and must be attached to your summary! (Note- No articles past June 1, 2019 will be accepted as a recent article.)

- Title the Google Document as follows- First Name, Last Name, Team Time Enrichment Teacher,
- On the first line of your response- Write the full title of article, who wrote it (author), where you got it from/source (ex: The Washington Post) and date of publishing
- Example: North Korean Nuclear Testing Begins

- Your first paragraph should be a summary of the article. This paragraph must be 5-7 sentences long and well written!
- The following are some ways to organize your summary
- Remember to include the 5 W’s and H (who, what, where, when, and why/how, if applicable)
- Who is involved? What happened? Where did it happen? When did it happen? Why did it happen? How did it happen?
- The following are some ways to organize your summary
- In your second paragraph, you are to explain why you choose the article, how it relates to the topic of Climate Change or the history of the continent of Africa, and finally how you felt about what you read. This response is to be 5-7 sentences long.
- Repeat Steps 2-4 for another article…

Grading:
Your project will be graded by a rubric. Read through the rubric thoroughly while completing your project to be sure that you receive as much credit as possible! Your project and its IB grade will be stored in your cumulative Randolph materials.
